Central District Police will remain in Foxton overnight and are speaking with two people following an incident in Foxton this evening.
The individuals have not been arrested and are fully cooperating with Police.
At approximately 7:30pm on Saturday 19 November 2016, multiple calls were received regarding shots heard in the Main Street and Johnston Street areas of Foxton.
The Armed Offenders Squad and dog units were deployed to assist with locating persons of interest and clearing a number of addresses.
No one has been located with injuries but Police are continuing to make enquiries.
A section of Cook Street remains closed to motorists while a small cordon remains in place. Other cordons have been lifted and the roads are clear for traffic.
Scene guards will be in place overnight at a Cook Street address, ahead of a scene examination to be conducted tomorrow morning.
Police would like to thank the public for their patience this evening and for providing ongoing information throughout the incident.
