Waikato Police investigating the unexplained death of a Coromandel man say a post-mortem examination planned for tomorrow is expected to shed some light on what has occurred.
Eastern Waikato Area Investigations Manager, Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley, said emergency services were called to a Wyuna Bay property outside Coromandel about 11pm.
"Police were called by a female in relation to a domestic related matter however on arrival Police arrived to find a 37-year-old man unresponsive.
"Officers commenced CPR on the man however their efforts were to no avail and Police are currently conducting inquiries in relation to an unexplained death."
"The matter has been reported to the Coroner and we expect a post-mortem examination to be conducted in Auckland tomorrow to hopefully offer some clarification into what has occurred."
Mr Pitkethley said a guard was placed over the property overnight to allow a scene examination to commence this morning and Police are currently carrying out a canvas of local residents for information on what may have occurred.
