Hamilton Police are investigating an unexplained death with the discovery of a body earlier today.
Police were advised of the location of a body behind properties in Lake Crescent after a member of the public contacted Police at about 9.40 this morning.
Police have engaged forensic scientists from ESR to assist and are undertaking enquiries in the area to ascertain further information. This is a normal process where the circumstances of a death are not yet able to be explained.
Police are not able to release the name of the deceased at this time as enquiries are ongoing to formalise identification and advise the family.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be completed tomorrow.
