Two arrested in Warkworth search warrant

1 min read

Police from across the Rodney area conducted a search warrant at a Warkworth motel yesterday ( 19th August 2015) resulting in the arrests of two men now charged with dealing class A drugs.  The local community had raised concerns about the activities of certain residents at the motel over the past few months and an investigation was launched.  This culminated in searches of a number of units where evidence of offending was obtained.

Two men, aged 23 and 40, have since appeared in Court charged with Class A drug dealing offences.

Warkworth Police are working closely with the motel managers to prevent such incidents in the future and a number of occupants have been evicted.

Inspector Mark Fergus, Rodney Area Commander, says that small tight-knit communities like Warkworth have no tolerance for drug dealing in their town.

"There was a regular flow of information from community members that enabled detectives to build up a picture of the illegal activities and to secure evidence.

"I know that the residents were pleased to see Police vehicles at the motel yesterday and I encourage the community to continue reporting suspicious activity, either directly to Warkworth Police or anonymously by ringing Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
