Three sons of a dearly loved Dad are desperate to find him.
Stephen, Glenn and Greg Davies are missing their treasured father and grandfather of three granddaughters, 74 year-old William (Bill) Davies, who was last seen three days after Father’s Day on Wednesday September 9 at his Albany rest home.
Bill Davies suffers from PSP, a condition that affects his mobility, balance and ability to think clearly. He should be taking daily medication but has now missed several doses and Police and his sons hold grave concerns for his health.
By Thursday he would most likely have become immobile and very unwell.
Greg Davies says his Dad is desperately missed and he and his brothers want to find him before the day is out.
“It’s been nearly four days with some pretty awful weather that no man of Dad’s age or medical condition should be wandering about in. He’ll be disoriented and confused, if not injured and suffering somewhere. My brothers and I want to find him and we need help.
“For several years Dad helped thousands of people come together in the name of sport – the SubFootball league that he set up and ran as a self-employed businessman – so we’re hoping that all his good work for others will be paid back with a sighting of him today.”
Greg says it’s possible his Dad travelled into Auckland City by bus from Bass Rd, Albany, to familiar football grounds after leaving the home where he was cared for.
“The SubFootball league competitions used to be held at three main venues – the Domain, Walker Park (Pt Chevalier) and Seymour Park (Epsom).
“He may have been trying to get to one of these locations and may have encountered someone along the way and engaged them in a discussion about the sport he was passionate about. If so, we and the Police want to hear from whoever he spoke with or whoever might have seen him.”
Search and Rescue volunteers have been searching many possible destinations over the past three days but now need sightings and other information to be able to usefully concentrate their efforts.
Medical experts have advised that, due to his condition and lack of medication, Bill Davies may now mistakenly appear to be intoxicated, homeless and in need of attention to personal hygiene.
When last seen Bill Davies was wearing;
-Blue polar fleece top
-Dark trackpants
-A black shirt
-Sandals with no socks
