Three Timaru men arrested following serious assault in Christchurch

Canterbury Police have arrested three men from Timaru in relation to a serious assault on a man in Christchurch on 4 December 2014.

Investigations led to Police officers based in Timaru visiting a number of addresses today.  They located and arrested three men believed to be members of the Timaru Chapter of the Mongrel Mob:  a 27 year old man, a 35 year old man and a 30 year old man at the properties.

The 27 year old and 35 year old men were due to appear in Christchurch District Court today charged with Wounding with Intent to Cause GBH today (18 December 2014).  The 30 year old man will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow (19 December 2014) charged with Wounding with Intent to Cause GBH and additional charges relating to burglary and unlawful activity.

Inspector Dave Gaskin said “Canterbury Police across the District are committed to suppressing violent offending by any group in our community.  We want Cantabrians to feel safe and be safe and urge anyone who notices any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to report it to the Police through the Crime Reporting Line, Crimestoppers or in an emergency call 111.”
