Drivers using SH29 over the Kaimai Range are urged to take extra care and slow down due to an oil spill on the road – just down from the summit on the Matamata side.
The route’s down to one lane each way while contractors clean up oil that has reportedly spread up to 300 metres.
The spill happened after a crash involving a ute and a car, to which emergency services were called at 10.11am.
There have been three other minor crashes since but no injuries reported.
