Police are urging motorists to take care and be patient due to flooding on SH1 near Manakau in the Horowhenua.
There is surface flooding across both lanes for approximately 1km along the straight.
Traffic is backed up and the southbound lane is the most affected.
Roading contractors are on the way to help begin clear the surface flooding.
Police advise motorists to delay travel or avoid the area, and to expect delays.
