Counties Manukau Police would like to thank their community following a successful Everyday Heroes event today.
The event was held at Botany Town Centre between 10am and 2pm and showcased a number of Police and emergency services.
Counties Manukau District Commander Superintendent John Tims said it was great to be able to share their work with thousands of people from the local community who came along.
“The day is all about showing our community that we are part of them, and showcasing the sides of Police that the public might not always get to see on a day-to-day basis.
“It was great to see so many families coming along to see us and have a look behind the scenes at not only Police work but also the great work that the Fire Service, St John’s Ambulance, Neighbourhood Support and Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust and many others do every day.
“It’s about breaking down barriers making sure that everyone knows what we are here to do, which is to make sure they are safe and feel safe.”
The day was filled with performances from Police and community groups, and members of the public were able to take photos on Police motorbikes, on Police horses, with Police dogs, Armed Offenders Squad officers and check out various parts of Police equipment.
“As always the Police dogs pleased with a fantastic show at the end of the day, showing off their skills in front of a mesmerised crowd.
“We hope that the day provided our community with some valuable insight into the job we do and we hope to see everyone again at our next event.”
