It’s now a week since 54-year-old Opotiki man Alan Grant Young, known as Grant, was last seen and various searches and enquiries have provided no clue to his whereabouts.
On Tuesday, 22 April, Mr Young’s car, which is a green and silver Toyota Carib registration YQ1688, was located on Maraenui Hill, State Highway 35, Opotiki. The car had been parked on the side of the road facing in a northerly direction.
A search in the vicinity of the car has been conducted utilising Whakatane Land SAR volunteers, the Trust Power Tech Helicopter from Tauranga, and Police SAR dog and has drawn a negative conclusion at this stage.
Police have received information from the public in relation to the location of the car and also various sightings of a man in the vicinity of the car. Further information is sought from anyone who knows the whereabouts of Mr Young or has seen or spoken to him recently.
