Statements read for media by representatives of the families of the two deceased at Ponga Rd, Opaheke
Ivan Gillatt, family friend of Trevor Waite:
Trevor was a devoted father to his family of two daughters and one son. He has a supportive network of family and friends who are coming together at this time.
Trevor was a quiet, caring, kind man and family and friends are shocked and devastated. Anyone who knew Trevor knew he could be trusted, no matter the nature of your relationship, which is why we are struggling to come to terms with the situation.
Trevor worked for Vero for 15 years and was a respected colleague of many.
From his parents: Trevor was a wonderful son that we are very proud of.
From his children: He was a good dad who was always there for us and supported us in everything we did. Trevor loved his kids so, so much.
From his brother and sister: Trevor was a great brother and we loved him very much. We are both saddened by this tragedy.
Due to the kind, caring type of person Trevor was, he has kept lifelong friends. Trevor was loyal, and a good person in every single way.
We also share our grief with the family of Glenys Stanton.
We ask that anyone who knows anything about this case please assist with the Police investigation and that media please respect the privacy of the family at this time.
John Kenyon, brother-in-law of Glenys Stanton:
We are shocked to learn of the tragic circumstances of Glenys and Trevor's passing. We appreciate the support that we have received so far and would like to pass on our condolences to Trevor's family.
Glenys leaves behind two grown daughters and three grandchildren. She was a beautiful person on the inside and out. She was a wonderful mother and friend to those who knew her.
Glenys had started working as a flight attendant recently and really loved it. She was a very positive person, very bubbly and sociable.
She was the kind of person who made the most of every opportunity and lived life to the full. It is unfortunate that her life was cut so short. She had so much more to give this world.
