Police are continuing their investigation of a crash in Northland between an ambulance and a power pole this morning where a patient travelling in the ambulance later died.
The investigation is ongoing, and it’s not known at this stage if the crash was a contributing factor to the patient’s death; however this will be determined when the crash investigation is completed
S/Sgt Chris McLellan, Area Prevention Manger of Northland District Police says Police have completed initial investigations of the crash and are supporting both the family of the deceased patient and the St John staff who were involved in the crash, with help and assistance from Victim Support.
Initially three St John staff members were admitted to hospital, but two have since been discharged. The third St John staff member injured in the crash is currently in a stable condition in Whangärei hospital.
The crash investigation is ongoing and the death has been referred to the Coroner.
