Taranaki Police supported by the Serious Crash Unit, are continuing to investigate a two-vehicle crash that occurred on State Highway 3 just north of Awakino yesterday (5 January, 2014) evening.

A family of four were in a south bound red Holden vehicle, and two French nationals (a male and female) were travelling in a north bound silver Nissan when the crash occurred.

The family (two adult females and two children) were transported to the Taranaki Base Hospital.  The women remain in a stable condition and the children were assessed by medical staff, as they sustained minor injuries.

The French nationals were airlifted to the Waikato Hospital where the female is in a critical condition, and the male in a serious condition.
