Wellington District Police is investigating a serious assault that occurred just after midnight this morning in Stokes Valley.
A 33-year-old man is currently at Wellington Hospital with a serious head injury.
CIB and Hutt Valley Police have worked throughout the night investigating the circumstances around the assault and will conduct a scene examination today.
Police are appealing to the public for any witnesses to come forward in regards to any incidents in the area of Hanson Grove, Stokes Valley in the early hours of this morning.
