A crowd of over 40,000 enjoyed an absorbing contest at Eden Park as the Black Caps marched into the Cricket World Cup final in Melbourne.
Auckland City Operational Commander for the ICC Cricket World Cup Inspector Peter Gibson said there were very few problems amongst the capacity crowd.
“Fans of both countries played their part in creating a wonderful atmosphere,” Inspector Gibson said. “Police would like to applaud the spectators for their positive behaviour during an exhilirating day at Eden Park.”
Inspector Gibson said Auckland City Police have enjoyed working alongside the public at the four World Cup matches at Eden Park.
“Eden Park hosted well over 100,000 spectators during the ICC Cricket World Cup and the general behaviour was outstanding,” Inspector Gibson said.
“We look forward to being part of the next world class event at the home of sport in Auckland.”
Auckland City Police would like to thank all of the partner agencies who they worked with during the tournament including the Maori Wardens, Pacific Wardens, Auckland Safety Patrollers and Community Patrols of NZ who assisted Police on all the transport routes to and from Eden Park.

NB. There were 31 evictions from Eden Park during today’s semi-final for breaches of the terms and conditions of entry. In addition there were two arrests for disorderly behaviour.
