Second man dies after Paengaroa crash

A passenger of the VW Golf car injured in the collision with a truck and trailer unit on State Highway 2, Paengaroa near Te Puke at approximately 8am on Sunday 28, December 2014, died at Waikato Hospital at 11.20pm last night.

He was a 31-year-old man Indian man from Rotorua.

The driver of the VW Golf, a 30-year-old Indian man from Rotorua died at the scene of the crash yesterday and two women passengers remain in a critical condition whilst a third man suffered minor injuries.

The names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released. 

Police enquiries are continuing and no further information is available at this time.

This is the third death on Western Bay of Plenty roads during the holiday period and Senior Sergeant Ian Campion urges drivers to take extreme care out there, slow down, respect following distances, comply with intersection controls and drive refreshed taking plenty of breaks.
