Tasman Search and Rescue have commenced a search in the Mt Angelus area of the Nelson Lakes National Park after a back pack containing clothing and a sleeping bag was located in a river last night.
The river the back pack was located in runs alongside the track that links the Speargrass and Mt Angeles hut.
Anyone who has recently lost a backpack in the area, or may have any other information that could identify the backpacks owner is asked to contact the Nelson Police on 03 546 3840.
