Search under way for missing woman

Police are seeking sightings of Helen Thirza CUMMACK

 

Christchurch Police are appealing for any sightings of an 80-year old woman believed to have gone missing this morning near the Summit Road between Sumner and Lyttelton.

The missing woman is Helen Thirza Cummack, of Christchurch. Police say she has medical conditions and they have concerns for her wellbeing.

A member of the public found Mrs Cummack's car in the car park at Rapanui Bush, near the top of Evans Pass Road, at around 7.30 this morning.

Police and dog teams have been in the area, and search and rescue operation is now under way.

Mrs Cummack is believed to have a small cocker spaniel dog with her. Police say she may have gone walking in the bush area, however she may have gone elsewhere.

Police are appealing for sightings from anyone who may have seen Mrs Cummack in the vicinity of the Rapanui Bush car park, Evans Pass Road or the Summit Road area this morning.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts or movements is asked to call Police urgently on 111.
