Search for missing hunter enters limited search phase

1 min read

Canterbury Police SAR led a team of 20-30 SAR search specialists to search the areas of high probability identified both within the original search area and adjacent terrain today (29 April 2015).

Canterbury Rural Area Commander, Inspector Dave Gaskin, said the teams were searching in good weather conditions today.  "Unfortunately they didn't find any sign of 64 year old Murray Edge who was last seen by the friend he was hunting with at around 8.30pm on Sunday 19 April 2015. The search for Murray is now entering a limited search phase with a view to specialists returning to the area in the future to continue the search. In the meantime we will continue to evaluate the data from the areas we have searched for Murray.”

"Officers from Canterbury Police and Southern Police Districts are working with and supporting Murray’s family who are understandably upset.  Canterbury Police have an ongoing inquiry to locate Murray" said Inspector Gaskin.

A further update will be made as and when appropriate to the limited search phase and ongoing inquiry.
