Police are continuing to examine the scene at Otaki Beach where a man's body was found yesterday (12 September) morning.
The man's body was removed from the beach late last night and a post mortem will take place this morning. A vehicle parked in the beach car park that Police believe is associated to the man has also been seized.
Police believe the man is in his late 20s or early 30s.
Officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said: "The scene examination is likely to be completed by this evening as well as an examination of the vehicle we have seized."
Approximately 16 officers are working on the investigation and area inquiries are ongoing.
"Once the post mortem is completed we will have a clearer picture of how the man has died and which path our investigation will take," said Mr Sheridan.
Further updates will be released once more information becomes available.
