At approximately 6.45pm on Sunday 24 April 2016 a man carrying a light brown coloured back pack entered the Warrington Liquor Centre on Warrington Street, Christchurch.
The man went behind the counter and produced a medium sized kitchen knife from the backpack.
He brandished the knife at the lone staff member and demanded he open the till.
The man then reached in behind the staff member and opened the cigarette cabinet before removing a number of packets of tobacco and cigarettes placing them in to his back pack.
The man then walked from out behind the counter and taken 2-3 bottles of spirits from the shelves before leaving the store.
The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 25 years of age, around 6 foot in height, of solid build, wearing a red t-shirt, grey hoodie, jeans, a red baseball cap and black and white Converse branded shoes.
Police have obtained CCTV footage and wish to hear from anyone who may have seen this man in the area at the time or have any information - please contact Police on (03) 363 7400 or Crimestoppers.
