A 42-year-old Christchurch man has been arrested following a number of burglaries at rest homes in recent months.
He has been charged with unlawfully in a building and burglary. He is due to appear in Christchurch Court on 12 April 2018.
This arrest comes as a reminder that everyone can take steps to protect property and vehicles in order to help avoid becoming a victim of crime.
For people living in rest homes it is particularly important to be aware of suspicious or unknown people in and around your residence. Our experience is that often these people are looking for an opportunity to steal.
Please keep items of monetary or sentimental value secure as thieves are opportunistic and will target these items.
Always be alert of what’s happening around you and please ensure you report any suspicious behaviour to Police.
Ring 111 if it is currently happening or your local station or Crimestoppers on 08000 555 111 to report previous incidents.
