Police investigating an alleged sexual assault in Sockburn yesterday say there has been an encouraging response to requests for information.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Sweeney says a number of people have come forward with information, and police staff conducting door-to-door enquiries in the area have received a positive response from residents.
"However it's still extremely important that we hear from anyone who may have seen the offender or any suspicious activity in the area yesterday morning.
"We are also continuing to ask for any information about any suspicious people or anything out of the ordinary that residents may have noticed in the area during the weeks prior to this assault.
"Even incidents that may seem unimportant could have relevance to this case, so we appeal for people to come forward with information as soon as possible."
The forensic scene examination at the Middlepark Road address has been completed this afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant Sweeney says Police have been speaking with the victim of the assault and her family throughout the afternoon.
"We hope to be in a position to release a more detailed description of the offender tomorrow," he says.
"Our other priorities tomorrow will be continuing door-to-door enquiries across an expanding area, and working our way through the information received from the public."
