Police seek witnesses to Gisborne hit-and-run

Police are seeking witnesses to a vehicle versus pedestrian hit-and-run in Gisborne on Wednesday morning.

Two men who were out walking were seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle at around 6:15am on Centennial Marine Parade between the Millennium Wall and Pacific St.

Both men were taken to Gisborne Hospital ICU, one in a critical condition and the other with serious injuries.

Police believe the vehicle was travelling along Centennial Marine Drive from the direction of the Gisborne Olympic Pool when the incident occurred.

The vehicle will have damage to its front including the bonnet and window screen areas.

The road remains closed and a scene examination is underway.

Members of the public that witnessed the crash, have information about this vehicle or that saw any vehicles travelling in the area at the time of the crash, are encouraged to come forward.

Anyone who has witnessed a vehicle with fresh damage is also encouraged to contact Police.
