Porirua Police are asking any witnesses to an assault yesterday to come forward.
A 40 year old woman was found shortly after 5.00 pm in Gloucester Street, Cannons Creek, with injuries to her arm and back.
"We believe the victim has been assaulted by a man who was seen driving from the area in a light coloured vehicle," says Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Sears. "We are aware that another man provided assistance to the woman but left prior to Police attending. We are asking this man, and any other witnesses, to come forward."
"We do not believe this was a random assault and the offender is likely to be known to the victim."
Police ask anyone with any information to contact them as soon as possible at the Porirua Police on (04) 237 2114. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
