Police are seeking information from the public on an aggravated robbery which featured on Police Ten 7 tonight.

On 23 October 2018 at about 8:50pm, three men drove into the carpark behind the Coasters Tavern in a blue 1998 Mazda Familia which had been stolen the night before. They entered the bar armed with a screwdriver, machete and shotgun and demanded money from staff and customers.

During the robbery, three people were assaulted. One of those people received cuts to the head. One of the offenders also discharged a firearm into the ceiling.

“This robbery has terrified the victims, particularly the three victims who were assaulted. The use of violence and weapons, particularly the discharging of a firearm, is of major concern,” says Detective Sergeant Brad Greenstreet.

“We’re committed to catching these offenders and holding them to account.”

After the men left the bar, the stolen vehicle was recovered from a property in Daniels Road. Police believe the offenders are likely to have used a second vehicle to leave the area.

Police believe someone in the community will know who these people are. If you have any information that could help, please contact Christchurch Central Police on (03) 363 7400 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
