Police seek help from public in identifying man

1 min read

At approximately 5pm on Tuesday 14 June 2016 a young girl was walking her dog north along Fitzroy Street, Wadestown.

A white car with a spoiler on the back drove past the girl and did a U-turn. The vehicle then parked behind her as she continued walking up Fitzroy Street, towards Oban Street.

The male driver has got out of his car, stood next to the vehicle and made inappropriate gestures and comments to the girl. She has continued walking  until she came across a woman who was able to help her.

The driver is described as Caucasian with short black hair. He is thought to be around 25-35 years old and approximately 6ft tall. He is of average build and was wearing a dark coloured long sleeved top and dark coloured pants.

Wellington Police would like to speak with members of the public who were in the area at this time and saw any suspicious activity. Police would also like to speak to the woman the child spoke to after the incident.

If you have any information that may assist with our investigation please contact Detective Sergeant Haley Ryan at the Wellington Central Police on (04) 381 2000. Alternatively you can give information  to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
