Canterbury Police have charged three men in relation to a burglary at a Cracroft property yesterday (14 October 2014) afternoon.
The men aged 26, 24 and 23 will appear in Christchurch District Court today each facing one count of Burglary.
A neighbour raised the alarm when they noticed the men acting suspiciously at the property. Police responded and located two men inside the property and a third in a vehicle parked in the driveway. The house appeared to have been ransacked and a large amount of property was stacked up near the doorway.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Anderson said “Without the neighbours input the men may not have been caught as quickly as they were. It’s really good to see members of the community looking out for each other and taking quick positive action by alerting Police to anything that is out of the ordinary or suspicious”
Investigations into this incident are on-going.
Police would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to secure their doors and windows and record the serial numbers and photograph expensive items such as electronics and jewellery. Working with your neighbours to build a community that is looking out for each other is also a good deterrent for opportunistic crime.
