Canterbury Police are appealing for the driver of a white vehicle which collided with a cyclist at around 4pm on Friday (24 April 2015) to contact them.

The vehicle is described as white, possibly a van. The driver who was wearing a high vis fleece top did the right thing by staying with the with the cyclist, however Police were not called to the scene.

A witness reported that the vehicle was turning right out of Show Place when it collided with a north-bound cyclist travelling along Whiteleigh Ave.  The driver stayed with the cyclist until he was taken to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance.  Unfortunately the cyclist, who was in considerable pain at the scene, does not appear to have a copy of the driver’s contact details.

The 48 year old cyclist is still in Christchurch Hospital where he is awaiting surgery for a leg injury.

Canterbury Police are keen to talk to the driver and anyone who witnessed the incident as they may be able to provide information that will assist with their investigation into the cause of the crash.

If you are the driver, or witnessed the crash, please call Canterbury Police on 03 363 7400 option 1.
