Police investigations continue into Harper Ave fatality

Canterbury Police investigating a dispute between two motorists on Harper Avenue, 100m from Carlton Corner, in Christchurch at approximately 3pm on Monday 24 November 2014 are still keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Both vehicles were travelling west-bound towards Riccarton along Harper Ave prior to the incident occurring.  The deceased man was driving a dark coloured Toyota Ace people mover and the other man a black BMW sedan.

Police can confirm that the deceased man was 67 year old David Paul JOURNEE. 

A number of witnesses have been formally interviewed and Police have more witnesses to interview over the coming week.  While Police have not yet formally interviewed the driver of the black BMW, discussions with him are continuing.

Detective Sergeant Ashley ROSS who is leading the investigation, said "Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances which resulted in one man being taken to Christchurch Hospital after receiving a head injury.  The man was treated in hospital for his injury but passed away on Tuesday 9 December 2014.  A post-mortem has been carried out and the results will form part of this ongoing investigation.  Police would like to thank the witnesses that have already come forward and ask anyone else who witnessed the incident to contact them.” 

Police investigations are continuing into the incident and it is too early to speculate on what the results of the investigation will be.
