Police are investigating a serious assault which took place at around 4:30am on Thursday 7th July on Raffles Street, Napier.
Two men seriously assaulted another man in the middle of the road directly opposite the Raffles Street entrance to the Pak’n’Save carpark.
One of the males used a skateboard to hit the victim over the head multiple times causing him to fall to the ground and momentarily lose consciousness.
The two offenders stole the victim’s mobile phone and bank cards before running off towards Munro Street.
The victim suffered serious lacerations to his head and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The offenders are described as Maori, approximately 170-180cm tall, of solid build and aged in their late teens to early 20s.
Both males were wearing dark hoodies, dark clothing and were carrying skateboards.
