Police investigating knifepoint robbery in Queenstown

Police are investigating a robbery which took place at a liquor store in Queenstown tonight.

The investigation is still at an early stage but at about 6.50pm tonight  a man armed with a knife entered Henry's Liquor Store in Shotover Street and demanded cash.

The man ran from the store with a quantity of cash.  Once outside the store,  the man still armed with the knife,  took a motor vehicle from a member of the public.  The offender and another person then drove off in the stolen vehicle.

Police patrols assisted by members of the public followed the stolen vehicle to the Mooney Road area of Queenstown where one of the persons in the stolen vehicle was apprehended.

A short time ago, the second person from the stolen vehicle was apprehended by police.
