Police were notified around 12:15am today, April 28, that an alarm had been activated at Thirsty Liquor on Chapel Street, Tauranga.
There was evidence that bollards had been damaged out the front of the shop, and the doors had been forced.
It's believed this was the result of a vehicle being used. A silver Mazda Familia or similar vehicle was seen leaving the area, heading south on Chapel Street.
Alcohol and cigarettes were taken.
Police have attended the scene to conduct forensic examination, and are working on following lines of inquiry, which includes any CCTV footage.
If anyone noticed a vehicle similar to a silver Mazda Familia in the area overnight, or knows of a vehicle of that description which may have sustained damage to the rear and sides, they are asked to call Tauranga Police on (07) 577 4300.
