Police are investigating a kidnapping incident in Whangarei this morning.
About 8.30am this morning a 33-year-old woman was parked in the Laurie Hall car park when a man threatened her with a knife.
The man forced her to drive to Mair Park car park and then to the ASB bank on Kensington Avenue where they parked outside for a short time.
He then forced her to drive to the car park on Quay Street in the Town Basin.
The man has then left her in the car about 9am and run off towards James Street and has disappeared.
Police are appealing for any information relating to the incident and would like to hear from anyone who saw a silver 'people mover' car in Laurie Hall car park, Mair Park car park, outside the ASB on Kensington Avenue and at the car park on Quay Street.
They would also like to hear from anyone who saw the man who is described as Maori and clean shaven, aged in his mid 30s to early 40s. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark trousers (possibly jeans) and grey running shoes.
The woman was shaken by her ordeal, but unhurt.
