Hamilton Police are dealing with two crashes in the city this morning, both of which have closed roads and one of which has resulted in serious injuries.
The first happened just after 8am at the intersection of Te Rapa and Pukete Road.
A truck and a police vehicle have collided. The police car was operating under lights and sirens on the way to another job.
The two officers in the car were checked by ambulance for minor injuries.
The truck driver was uninjured.
There are road diversions in place - at the northbound end, traffic is being diverted from Te Rapa Road on the onramp at the Waikato Expressway.
At the southern end, traffic is being diverted onto McKee Road.
Heavy vehicles, especially milk tankers, needing to access the Fonterra site on Te Rapa Road are being let through.
The second crash happened on Tuhikaramea Road about 8.20am, involving two vehicles.
One person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Traffic is being diverted via the roundabout at Killarney Road, and at Jasmine Road.
Both crashes are being investigated by the Serious Crash Unit.
