Canterbury Police are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run involving a 1995 dark blue Mazda Millenia sedan and a cyclist on Jones Road, 500m west of the junction with Dawsons Road, shortly after 7.45pm on Saturday 29 November 2014.
The 41 year old female cyclist riding a black Milazo was knocked off her bike and onto the gravel and grass verge at the side of the road. Police believed that the front of the car and wing mirror collided with the bike and rider. The nearside wing mirror from the vehicle was left at the scene.
The rider sustained multiple injuries including two broken ribs, a broken finger, a cut to her leg which required stitches, multiple deep abrasions to her arm and bruising. She is scheduled to have plastic surgery on her arm and surgery on her hand at Christchurch Hospital today.
Police appeal for the driver or anyone who has seen a dark blue Mazda Millenia that is missing a nearside wing mirror or has damaged to the front nearside of the vehicle to contact them on 03 347 9248.
