Police appeal for witnesses following Hamilton pedestrian's death

1 min read

Hamilton Police investigating a fatal collision between a car and a pedestrian in the City's western suburbs this morning are appealing for witnesses to what occurred.

Waikato Prevention Manager, Inspector Rob Lindsay, said emergency services were called to the incident on Whatawhata Rd in Dinsdale about 7.10am.

"The crash is still under investigation by our Serious Crash Unit so it would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of what happened but I can confirm a 64-year-old female pedestrian injured in a collision with a car has subsequently died in Waikato Hospital this morning.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is being spoken to by our staff. While crash investigators work to establish what has occurred, Police would like to express our sympathies to the women's friends and family for their tragic loss."

Mr Lindsay said anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn't already spoken to Police is asked to contact Constable Christopher Polglase at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200.
