The search for a patient who went missing from North Shore Hospital yesterday afternoon continues this morning.

Patricia Hogarth went missing from the North Shore Hospital at 1pm yesterday afternoon. She was wearing hospital pyjamas and carrying a hospital blanket.

Police have received several sightings of Ms Hogarth in the Takapuna and Belmont area and believe she was in the Belmont area at 9pm last night, where she approached a member of the public and was given $10.

Police are working to confirm further sightings and are reviewing CCTV as the search continues. Ms Hogarth is believed to have visited a dairy and a fast food outlet in the Takapuna area and may have travelled in the area yesterday afternoon on an old rusty mountainbike. A woman fitting the description went to a dairy in the Belmont area at 7pm and left the bike and a hooded sweatshirt behind.

Police believe Ms Hogarth may have obtained new clothing and is now possibly wearing the following;

- A bright Maroon shirt - possibly a North Shore Football Club Shirt

- Dark green camo-style pants

-Grey shoes

-May possibly be carrying a white plastic carry bag and a black plastic bin liner

"Last  night was very cold and we are obviously very keen to find Patricia as soon as possible. It's quite possible that someone in the Takapuna/Devonport area has given Patricia a bed for the night, not knowing the circumstances, and  we ask that anyone who has seen Patricia or spoken to her makes contact with us immediately" says Sergeant Mike Flatt, North Shore Police.

Anyone who sees Patricia Hogarth should call 111 immediately.
