Police appeal for information in Mangere homicide investigation

Counties Manukau Police is continuing its enquiries into a homicide investigation following the death of man in Mangere in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police can now name the victim as 26-year-old Arthur Brown.

The man’s family has been notified and we extend our sympathies to them at this time.

The family is being supported by Police.

A post mortem has now been completed and results indicate Mr Brown suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Police have since completed a scene examination outside a group of shops on Vine Street.

“Police remain focused on investigating the circumstances around Mr Brown’s death,” says Detective Inspector Tofilau Faa Va’aelua.

“Our investigators have made steady progress in the last two days preserving and securing evidence. We are continuing with the gathering of CCTV footage from the immediate area and elsewhere.

“Police are aware of the concern in the community especially with this level of violence. We are extremely committed to apprehending the perpetrators of this senseless crime as soon as possible.

“I have no doubt there are people in the community who know the identity of those responsible.
