Police appeal for information after apparent hit and run

Canterbury Police are appealing for help in locating the driver of an apparent hit and run on Selwyn Road just before 6.45am this morning which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

The motorbike was being ridden along Selwyn Road towards Christchurch when a dark grey 4-door Subaru Legacy is reported to have turned in front of the bike onto Robinsons Road.  Witnesses report that the bike has collided with the front/passenger side of the car.  The car has continued on without stopping and may have been heading towards the Rolleston area.

The rider was taken by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital with suspected injuries to his arm, leg and stomach.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have seen a dark grey Subaru Legacy with damage to the front/nearside area this morning to contact Christchurch police on (03) 363 7400 urgently.  Alternatively information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
