Palmerston North Police are investigating a burglary at Stirling Sports on Broadway Avenue, Palmerston North at about 2.20am on Tuesday 31st May 2016.
Two males ram-raided the premises by reversing a stolen Subaru Legacy station wagon into the front entrance. They then loaded a range of branded sports clothing including Nike sports socks, NZ Kiwi rugby league jerseys and Adidas sweatshirts into it before driving from the area. The vehicle had been stolen from another location earlier in the night.
Constable Kumeroa of the Tactical Crime Unit warned members of the public to be wary of anyone other than authorised retailers selling new sports clothing at significantly reduced prices. If it seems too good to be true then it’s probably stolen.
Constable Kumeroa said it’s an offence to buy stolen property and Police will continue to target people involved in property crime, whether they be the thieves or the receivers of that property.
Anyone with information about the ram-raid burglary can contact Constable Kumeroa on (06) 213 9652.
Iinformation can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
