Police are currently on the scene at Taihape, where a male pedestrian has been struck by a train in the early hours of this morning.
The man has died as a result of his injuries.
No roads are closed at this time, however people are advised to check with KiwiRail for any delays to train services.
The circumstances surrounding how the male has come to be on the train tracks are still being investigated.
Further information will provided as it is confirmed.
The identity of the male will not be released until his next of kin have been informed.
