Manawatu Police have now obtained further description details of the two offenders involved in a home invasion at a rural Opiki property yesterday morning (30 April, 2014).
The first offender is described as;
- male Maori
- around 18 to 20 years old
- medium length dark hair
- around 5'7 to 5'8 in height
- medium to stocky build
- has a silver sleeper with a ball in the centre in his left ear
- has a noticeable missing tooth in his top row of teeth
- wearing dark coloured clothing
and the second as;
- male Caucasian
- around 18 to 20 years old
- around 6 foot in height
- lean build
- with very short possibly blonde hair or closely shaven hair
- wearing a grey or light coloured hoodie
The victim was discharged from the Palmerston North Hospital yesterday and is being closely supported by her partner. She has also been offered the services of Victim Support.
The Caucasian male sustained the wound to his stomach and Police along with the victim are concerned for his health and urge him to get medical treatment.
"Officers have not yet formally interviewed the victim as her health and welfare is paramount. She did however express to us that she was worried about the wounded offender's condition and along with Police urge him to come forward and seek immediate medical treatment," says Detective Sergeant Dave Thompson of the Manawatu CIB
"We have had several calls from members of the public with information and I want to thank those people and the media for helping us with our appeal.
"I also want to take this opportunity to stress to the Opiki community that this type of incident is unusual in the Horowhenua and Manawatu areas and that our officers are making every effort to locate the offenders.
"We still want to speak to anyone that may have any information about this incident and we encourage them to contact Police."
A scene examination at the property was completed yesterday evening. Six officers are currently working on the investigation.
