Operation Venice update

1 min read

The homicide investigation into the death of Connor Morris is progressing, with Police continuing to build a picture of exactly what took place early on Sunday morning.

The forensic scene examination on Don Buck Road has continued throughout the day as investigators look to gather all available evidence. A white Honda car was towed from the scene last night which will also be examined.

Media reports that the weapon is in fact a machete are at this stage, speculation. As Police have already stated, a weapon is believed to have been involved, however exactly what type of weapon is still yet to be determined. Investigations around the weapon and it's whereabouts are ongoing.

The two men who were arrested at the scene on Sunday morning have appeared in court on matters that are not related to Mr Morris's death; for outstanding fines and breach of community work. They are no longer in custody and their accounts are only part of what the investigation team is working through to piece together the circumstances of Mr Morris's death.

At this point in time no-one has been charged in relation to Mr Morris's death and no-one else is in custody. Investigations are ongoing and Police are working hard to ensure all possible lines of enquiry are covered, this process is lengthy and time-consuming because of the large number of people who were present at the time.

Mr Morris's body has now been returned to his family.

A team of more than thirty detectives are working on the investigation. Anyone who can help Police can do so anonymously, without having to give their details, by calling the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

Information can also be given to the Operation Venice team by calling the Henderson Police Station on 09 839 0600.
