Police can confirm that a number of search warrants are currently underway across parts of the upper North Island.
Armed offenders squads have been used as a precautionary measure in several locations, including Mt Wellington and in the Bay of Plenty.
This is part of a planned Police operation and there is no risk to the public.
For operational reasons no further information can be released at this time but Police expect to provide further details in the next few hours.
