Police investigating the stabbing of a man in a shop on Great North Road this morning are speaking with two young people in relation to the incident.
A homicide investigation, called Operation Leeanne, is underway into the death of Mr Arun Kumar(picture attached), who was 57 years old.
The persons assisting Police with enquiries are two boys aged 12 and 13 years old, and both are speaking to Police in the presence of support people. They were located by Police in Henderson shortly after this morning's incident.
Mr Kumar was the owner of the Railside Dairy and is believed to have been stabbed in this morning's attack. For operational reasons Police will not be drawn on any comment about weapon/s.
Also present during the incident was Mr Kumar's wife, she was unhurt but is understandably traumatised and is being supported by Victim Support, and a Police ethnic liaision officer.
A scene examination at the shop is underway and as part of the enquiry, officers have been speaking with a number of people who were in the area at the time of the attack. CCTV footage from a number of stores, including the dairy, is also being gathered and will be reviewed throughout the course of the enquiry.
