Open Days a chance to connect with Police

1 min read

Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast Police are hosting three public Open Day events across the Tasman District next month.

The Open Days events will be held in Blenheim, Nelson and Greymouth on Sunday March 11.

Tasman District Commander, Superintendent Mike Johnson says the Open Days are a great opportunity to promote Policing as a career while also providing Police and the community a chance to connect in an informal setting.

“I’d say come along and have a look at what your Police are doing on a day to day basis.  We have a number of activities planned across the three events in our District to showcase the different opportunities a career in the Police can provide.

“Staff have been busy organising these events and I would encourage anyone curious about a career in the Police, or just want to have a look through our stations, to come along and learn first-hand from our officers.  We’ll be joined on the day by other emergency services, such as Fire and Emergency and Ambulance.

“While this year’s Open Day has a recruitment focus, there will be plenty of other activities happening across the day for anyone curious about a behind-the-scenes look at Police and the work we do.

“I am very proud of what our Police do on behalf of our communities and would encourage everyone to come and have a look for themselves,” says Superintendent Johnson.

Activities being held across the District include displays from: Armed Offenders Squad, Search and Rescue, Police Dog teams, Fire and Emergency and information stalls. Blue light, neighbourhood support, Big Brother and Big Sister, Community Patrols and Coast Guards and others will also be present at the events.
