Police have now charged a 49 year-old man in relation to the incident earlier this morning in Whanganui where he presented a firearm at police.
The man has been charged with burglary, kidnapping, and using a firearm against a law enforcement officer. He has appeared before a judge today and has been remanded in custody to reappear on 30 March 2016.
As the matter is now before the courts, police are unable to provide any further comment.
