A large spill of offal on the road between Kaiwaka and and Wellsford has closed State Highway 1.
The spill stretches around 4km. Diversions are in place off SH1 southbound at Kaiwaka-Mangawhai Road, and northbound at Mangawhai Road.
The spill is expected to take several hours to clean up. Police staff are in attendance and council contractors have been advised.
Motorists are advised there will be significant delays.
