Police investigating the aggravated robbery and bomb hoax at BNZ Ronwood Ave, Manukau, have released additional footage of the suspect following the incident.
The suspect entered a taxi in Manukau after leaving the bank and rode to Otara, where he got out near McDonalds. He is seen in CCTV footage from the taxi removing a wig, where his real hair is clearly visible.
Detective Sergeant Dave Honiss of Counties Manukau Central CIB says the investigating team is hopeful that the release of this footage will lead to an arrest.
"We expect that this video footage will help identify the suspect," he says. "The clip clearly shows his mannerisms, which are often more of a giveaway for identity than a still photo. He also puts a hat on, which somebody may recognise."
The suspect is wanted by Police following a bomb threat in the bank around 10:30am on Friday 24 January that required Police, Fire and Ambulance crews as well as the NZDF bomb squad. He fled the bank with a small amount of cash and the bomb was discovered to be an elaborate hoax.
"Police advise anyone with information on the suspect to come forward," says Detective Sergeant Honiss. "Aggravated robbery is a serious offence and we are looking to speak to this individual as soon as possible."
Anyone who recognises the suspect in the taxi or knows anything about this incident should call Detective Sergeant Dave Honiss on 09 213 9154 or Detective Seema Kotecha on 09 213 9163, or information can be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
